Rachel Carson Multi-Purpose Facility
BREX Corp worked with Benchmark Construction on a new multi-use facility consisting of exhibit space and offices for the Department of Fish and Wildlife. The project consisted of demolition of part of the existing structure while preserving the main structure, construction of a new addition, construction of new parking lots, installing 680 LF of storm drain, installing a precast concrete chamber leach field, and the installation of a 15 foot deep duplex pump station. The main structure was excavated along the perimeter to allow for the installation of new foundation drains and water proofing. Throughout the project Brex was challenged with a high ground water table and soft clay conditions. Brex worked through the challenges to complete this project on time and on budget to deliver a facility that will be the headquarters for the Rachel Carson Wildlife refuge.
